Just wanted to touch on what Ian said, I was super busy yesterday and didn't have tine to add this then. I did get a reply on the forums about the same known issue, appears to be related to some Dell systems. And, well, an Alienware is a Dell. I haven't had the time to test it on another system, but will update when I do.

@nightkingdoms - In what aspects are the the same? Do you mean Alienware is a spin-off of Dell like Saturn is a spin-off of GM?

As in Saturns. Dell bought Alienware years ago. So you get Dell support, they use higher class - but still Dell - parts. It's got it's own service tag and everything. It's not as good of a product as it used to be before Dell, but in the laptop game it's still higher rated stuff. Also if no one knew, eMachines are made by Gateway.

I knew about the eMachines-Gateway thing, but not about Acer. That would explain quite a bit.

I'm happy that the tech community has started taking notice - we hope that with this Beta run we'll be able to continue to tailor TechUSB to the needs of techs. We've been incredibly excited to get it in the hands of techs, and are continuing to add features as fast as we can.
Do you plan to ever make this tool a consumer-level tool?

Good question Bryce -

We have considered it, however we feel that TechUSB is better tailored to repair technicians because it is a bootable repair tool, and the value it can provide to technicians is far greater than anything it could provide to consumers. So no, at this point we are not planning on marketing to consumers.

Will this be made up of a series of already available free diagnostics tools or will it be made up of custom diagnostics tools that you guys have written yourselves? As someone who is a firm believer in running a full diagnostics before each in shop repair, I would be interested in testing this product.
