Since I first started Technibble I have bumped into some other people who are also providing content for the computer repair industry. Once you are done with your daily dose of Technibble and its forums, here are some other great resources to continue learning about the computer repair business.
There is Steve Cherubino from Podnutz has released some great laptop repair videos where he records his laptop repair process and explains what he is doing a long the way. They are very educational for those of you who haven’t repaired many laptops and still very interesting for those of you who often repair laptops so you can see another technicians work process and can compare it to your own.
Steve has some more great content in his website where he posts content from his “Podnutz Daily” show where he talks about “a day in the life of a computer repair tech”. This show usually updates a few times a week and is quite interesting hearing about the new issues that come into his shop each day. Once a month or so, Steve releases a much longer and more structured show where he may interview someone interesting in the computer repair industry like Bruce Harrison who is the leader researcher for Malwarebytes or even myself back in the day. Well worth a listen.
There is a new podcast on the scene called “Tech Vets” which is made up of two very interesting podcasters; Mike from MikeTechShow.com and Carey Holzman from ComputerAmerica.com. These two join forces every week or so and talk about hardware and software on a technician level rather than at an end user level. You can check out Tech-Vets over at Tech-Vets.com.
Another website worth taking a look at is “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Computer Guy” (aka Y.F.N.C.G) which is run by Matt who is a technician and writes about his experiences as his business grows. Matt interviewed me earlier this year which is well worth a read.
Last but not least there is Rick Savoia from The Force Field which is a podcast aimed at IT Service Professionals. He hasn’t posted a new podcast in about a month, but the past content there is still great. He did a mini series called “The State of the IT Industry” where he talks about remaining profitable in current markets. You can checkout The Force Field here.

Thank you for the computer repair vids Bryce. My Technibble bookmarks are overflowing!
Great list!
Thanks Bryce.
Thank you Bryce — those videos in particular are priceless, especially the one that shows how to solder a power jack. I’d feel a lot better about my first repair of that type if I’d seen a video of it done before (rather than just reading about it). Thankfully, no computers or people were fried in the process!
Thanks for the mention Bryce! I’ve been slacking lately on updating my blog, but now the pressure’s on to get some new stuff up!
Bryce, Thank you for the mentions of my podcasts!
Wow, how do you keep up with all of these great resources and still find time to work! LoL!!! :)
