We all know we should be learning more, but when you are too busy actually working, we simply don’t have time to do so. With the rise of various computer podcasts in the last few years, it has allowed us to use our drive-time for education, essentially turning our cars into a rolling university. If you are an onsite computer business, drive-time is something you have plenty of.
Of course, podcasts aren’t strictly limited to just listening to them in the car, many computer technicians listen to them in the shop while they are working on client machines. I personally listen to podcasts while walking to the shops and doing housework as well.
There are hundreds of general computer podcasts out there, but only a small handful that specifically target the computer business. Because of that, I have compiled a list of my favorite podcasts that specifically target computer technicians, in no particular order.
Okay, so I put my own one first. But the reason why is I set out to make mine different to most other podcasts. I generally run with two formats: One type is super condensed, actionable episodes that are around 5 to 10 minutes long. In many of them I talk about the mindset going from computer technician, to computer business owner which is a pain point I see frequently. The other type are in-depth interviews where I try to map out the guests entire story and they usually run for about an hour. Whatever your drive-time is, there is a podcast for you.
Podnutz is actually a network of shows covering a variety of different topics including computer repair, Android Apps, mini PCs, Linux, books and more. The shows generally run for 1 to 1.5 hours and are hosted by “in the trenches” techs. They talk about what they see in the field, doing the right thing in business and where they see it all going. It is a very solid podcast that is frequently updated.
The Mike Tech Show is also very “in the trenches” and tends to have a big focus on software and hardware tools. The episodes are jam-packed with information and you are very likely to learn of a new tool or service that you haven’t heard of before. The episodes are generally 30 mins to an hour long and update every 2 weeks.
As the name implies, this is mostly about Office 365. Lisa talks about the work she does for clients, what problems she encountered and how she fixed them. Sometimes diversifying into general computer business marketing. If you do any work with Office 365, this is a must-listen-to.
A solid podcast about the marketing side of the computer business. Generally running from anywhere between 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, and updates twice a month. Matt recently brought on Paco Lebron from Podnutz and together they make a great dynamic.
IT Jetpack is a live show (and later downloadable as podcasts), that invites computer business owners and other subject matter experts onto the show to talk about the issues they face in the business. At the end of the show they have an “Ask Me Anything” session where you can ask the guests questions. The shows generally run for an hour to an hour and a half and are recorded monthly.
Brought to you by Continuum (RMM software). As I am sure you can gather from the name, they primarily target MSPs. MSPRadio tends to focus on the business side of becoming an MSP. They are generally 30 minutes long and generally updates from every few days to a week.
So these are my top picks. Are there any computer business podcasts that you listen to that aren’t listed here?

Hi Bryce, thanks for adding my show to your favorites list. With Office 365 being such a sweet goldmine to technicians around the word…I hope to keep on delivering as much as I can with my shows. Next show, SharePoint!
