Cheap Laptop Screw Management System

I thought it would be nice to share the steps I take when disassembling a laptop. This is mostly in response to the thread Laptop Screw Symbol Tricks. I have tried different screw management techniques and nothing has been as cheap, fast, and perfect as this. I have never had extra screws or mix-ups during re-assembly. In this example this HP laptop has a broken DC power jack which will require the laptop to be taken apart...

Thanks. I currently use a magnetic mat without the capability to draw diagram on it. Your paper method will work better better because of the additional position info.
thanks! wonderful idea!
Brilliant. Thank you for this technique, it will be well used. I also use my phone's camera to take photos and Skitch to make notations if it's super complicated.
Wow! this is awesome idea Sir, thank you very much.
This essentially the same method I use with a couple of small exceptions. The first few times I went this route I used an entire sheet of paper, I then decided that a half sheet of paper would be less bothersome on my workbench. I've now reduced it down to a 3 x 5 note card the stiffer paper seems to do a better job of holding the screws. One other thing I've added, if I need to walk away from the project for any length of time I put Scotch tape over the screw heads to keep them from getting lost from the paper.
Works great! never get a screw out of place, no fiddling to see what fits! and if it has to sit on the shelf a week, you still know how it goes together!
