Has anyone got, or know of, a service manual or strip down procedure for the above laptop? I'm pulling my hair out getting into it to change the power button board that has partially disintegrated.

I've had a look through my manuals, and don't have one sorry mate. Also had a quick gander online, and cant seem to see one.

Where abouts are you having difficulties?

Only thing I could find is that they are made by ECS ( Advent Roma 2000 === ECS I50IL1) but no manual.

Had a search on Advent Support forum but no links except for User guides.

Going to be a tough one!

Update

Never found a guide but eventually got into it ok, the bottom removes from the mb attached to the top cover!!. Found several problems with the laptop. The client said that it had worked intermittently for a long while and eventally packed up. A quick look showed the power button was broken and so was the 'bubble power switch board' where the metal contact had broken away and gone elsewhere. Found both parts on Ebay and ordered them. They came and I fitted them but still nothing. Checked the 20vdc out of the power block and that had failed as well. Ordered one but in the meantime used my workshop block to test. Still not working and found a bad power jack as well  parts on order. Thanks for your input.

Wow, what a pita this jobs turning out to be for you mate. Glad to see you got into it ok though. Look on the bright side, least you know how to get into this one, and it will be easier next time round ;) lol

Yes. Took out every screw I could find plus a couple of hidden ones. It was just you couldn't work out whether the top came off or bottom. A bit of prizing carefully around the revealed the hidden screws and now it is in bits :)

Like most things the first time of a specific model of laptop takes time.

Got a Roma 1001 come in this morning needing a screen. Big PITA the only online info appears to be the same video everywhere, showing a guy really pulling the bezel about to change it because it requires major disassembly to accomplish the task properly.
I don't want to go that route and break the bezel so am loosly following a Roma 1000 guide.

Wish I'd looked into this before quoting but it's a lesson learned. :/

From memory I did a screen on this a few years ago. Easiest way was to fit the screen with the bezel attached.

Slide the screen behind the bezel, leaving the bottom 2 screws, as this requires a full dismantle job.

Took me a couple of hours. I also think I posted about it on here. If you do a search for threads I have started, it will appear.
