Affordable pet grooming business POS systems?

A customer I'm working with is looking for an affordable POS system for her pet grooming business. Preferably one that's a one time payment for the system and not a monthly recurring charge. Something geared towards pet grooming, obviously. I've done research but haven't found any viable options. Any suggestions as I've not much experience with POS systems. Thanks!

You're going to have trouble pairing up the software with such a specific niche. This is open-source (free) software available. A quick Google search turned up a bunch.

I have used Open Bravo POS for a Cafe, a Restaurant, and in my IT shop... pretty versatile.. May be worth a look to you

Veterinarian systems may work well. One of my clients uses Avimark -- on the tech side it's junk [Avimark SQL should be better] but it would work for you, though it may cost more than you're planning on.

Appreciate the feedback! I did a google search for it too and i went through pages but nothing really seemed to fit. Basically she wanted a way to print out custom invoices as well a track customer history and write notes that only she could see about the particular customer when she looked them up. I'll check out the couple suggestions you guys gave. Again, thanks a ton!

What are they using for their accounting?

Quickbooks POS is pretty customizable if they already have Quickbooks as their bookkeeping.
