One thing that I actually enjoy about Winter are the chances that come along to catch up on my reading. Mostly I dive into good fiction, but I also read a fair amount of non-fiction....mostly philosophy, gardening, and health/fitness related material.

Anyone else? What are you reading (non business related)? Recommend some good book/series? Favorite authors?

I love a good book.
Mainly horror, favourite authors, James Herbert (rip), Dean Koontz, these are the 2 I try to buy as soon as a new book was released, however in reality I will read any good book from any genre, at the minute its good old british horror
At the moment I'm 2 chapters into the autobiography of chef Marco Pierre White, about halfway through another tech crime book, the title of which eludes me right now.

I love reading, but rarely find the time.

Last book I read was enders game, right before the movie came out.

I read a range of things from non-fictional science books to all types of fiction.

(Raises hand frantically)...

I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I was able to visit Powell's in Portland for the first time recently.

Loved Kevin Mitnick's book that came out recently and We Are Anonymous which was all about the downfall of some of the bigger members in LulzSec and Anonymous. Generally I read more non-fiction than fiction...Bill McKibben is a favorite, and I love history, particularly colonial history. I'm picky about fiction and can't stand "chick-lit."

My Goodreads profile is here. If I could recommend ONE book to other techs it would be this one. It's heavy at times but it remains one of the best books I've ever read in my life. Made me feel a lot more comfortable about my career choice, and the motorcycle stuff was interesting as well since that's what I grew up around. (If you give it a go and it gets to be a struggle try the audio version--it's worth it!).
