Any tips or feedback on my current website?

Hi,

I am a fairly new computer business owner so I have spent much of my time refining my repair skills and haven't put much time into learning web-design. Since I needed a website ASAP at the time, I used Godaddy's website builder (and i hate myself for it!). Does it seem decent considering my lack of experience building sites?

Any feedback/advice would be appreciated!

Edit: I thought I edited and put in my URL - www.technicallygeniussj.com

Sorry about that!

i like. i like a lot more than a lot of pages posted here. agree about the phone number. i hate the fast moving slideshow, i hate that it's so big, i hate that it forces me to scroll both down and sideways in order to get to the information *but* apparently i'm alone in that opinion :(

the four icons on the main page, repair, build, design, support seem to have something going on with the background, like transparency that didn't work out.

well done :)

Thanks for the input! When you say you have to "scroll sideways" is that on a mobile device? I haven't experienced trouble in that area and I'm trying to fix it if you noticed it as an issue :) Thanks again.

that probably came over as grumpier than intended. however one of my pet hates is over engineered web sites that get so distracted with being 'pretty' that they forget to communicate[/rant]

my work machine is a standard 15 inch asus laptop. resolution is 1366x768. chrome is maximised. this is what i see when i land at your page.

i notice that many tablets have higher resolution so maybe i'm just running outdated technology.

if i look at it on the external monitor which is 1440x900 i see

attachment.php

a bit more at the bottom and a tiny bit more on the right.

looks completely different on my phone. hmmmm....

oh, just FYI that little 'repair' guy i seem to recall using in one of my projects recently. i guess it's all over the web by now :-)

services: is it really necessary to list every little thing? or is it just that what's obvious to me is not obvious to other people.

omg i'm so grumpy today?!?

contact: when i go there i can see two contact forms: the big one on the contact page and the smaller one on the right

build: nice! i reckon that's going to appeal

design: let us design your workspace. yes, *very* nice! unique offering. geez i wish i'd seen this when the meatheads at the last job were fitting out the office, you might have got the contract. you'd have a ways to travel though :-)

Thanks I appreciate the honest feedback! I made several changes to the website so feel free to check up on the changes I made regarding your comments. The screenshots were a great help so I can visualize how my clients/potential clients see it. Feel free to provide any additional advice! Thanks again :)

No you're not. Current web design consensus is that sliders suck in general and automated sliders on a front page doubly so.

Site look OK in general.

I'm going to post all my criticisms only so don't take it personally! :-)

You need the phone number on every page not just the main page. If you're a shop rather than mobile then the address too. The formatting of the phone and address looks a bit pony at the moment.

Since you've settled on an orange colour in the theme I would have thought it made design sense to use it on the buttons rather than the red?

Footer doesn't go all the way across the page and under the sidebar which looks odd I think.

I won't comment on the logo as you won't like it...! And I don't get why you've got a giant, full version of it in the slider but only a cut down one and text in the header.

Submit button on contact form should match the other buttons in terms of styling/colour.

Service page needs tarting up. Just a bit list that requires a lot of scrolling to get through. Must be a neater way of displaying that info.

Contact page is normally the last item on a menu bar not in the middle. Autton styling different again here for some reason.

Build page looks kinda stark and off compared to the other pages. Instead of another slider maybe some thumbnails of different systems - much easier to take in with one glance and see somehting you like.

I have a thread here asking for comments on my B2B site www.yourtechdept.co.uk so if you fancy returning the favor please do :-)

I think the homepage looks better with the 4 images there, however they are HUGE! The image sizes take over 4Mb alone in bandwidth to load. I suggest modifying the actual image sizes in your favorite image editor and that should get the image sizes down well below the 1Mb mark.

On my resolution, 1680x1050 via Chrome, the Contact Us page menu overlaps the content cutting it off. On the design page, the opposite occurs. The slideshow cuts into the menu.

I would change the font color on your services page. Orange font just isn't very easy on the eyes to read.

Overall, other than what was said above, from an SEO standpoint everything else looks good. Favicon, I noticed your page titles are all present (however I would make them just a tad longer than one word), and links all seem to work properly. I like how you placed your contact info in big bold print in the header as well.
