Anyone Know What This Gray Circle Is?

A customer has this over her taskbar and it messes with her mouse when she scrolls over it. Anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it? You can barely see it. It's on a brand new Lenovo, if that helps. I've never seen one before.

I have a funny feeling you're right. I don't have it with me. We're messaging but I can probably walk her through figuring it out. I'll keep you posted. :)

I would still be very curious by what she means by "messes with" if that's what she said. These sorts of utilities (including one in PowerToys) are meant to make visually locating the mouse pointer easier, but should have no impact on functionality.

I prefer using the Windows Accessibility settings to make the mouse pointer larger and filled with a color other than white.

She's going to take it to Staples and let them check it out. She was going to go get office supplies anyway and Staples is closer to her than I am. I'll ask her to let me know what they find.
 
Happens often if the screen has been replaced incorrectly, though in a new screen is odd. I would be looking at a return if this was the case. In future it will develop into a screensaver.

Good to know, if I ever come across this issue again. She's taking it to Staples, since they're closer than me. I asked her to let me know how it turns out. Never know with people, though. I may never hear from her again. Or she might surprise me.... lol

Ghost touch from the touchscreen.
Definitely something wrong with the touchscreen, usually on cracked screens but I had an uncracked ZenBook displaying that. Just out of warranty, they sat on it then brought it over 6-month out of wty.
Oz consumer guarantee would've covered that if they had brought it in when it happened.

Thank you. I don't know how "new" her new laptop is but if it's a faulty touch screen, I hope it's under warranty and, if it is, I hope Staples doesn't void the warranty by opening it up.

My son did a repair on a friend's laptop and, when she picked it up, she was so happy. She took it out to her car, set it on the driver's seat, then ran back into his shop to ask a question. Then, went back out and got in the driver's seat, forgetting she'd put the laptop there. She sat on it, cracking the screen. Poor girl had one of those laughing through tears moments, when she took it back in to him. :(

Places performing local repairs under OEM warrant are virtually non-existent these days given the replacement prices of most laptops. I seem to remember that UPS was running a repair center at their main hub in Louisville, KY. I know that back in the days that's where Toshiba laptops went.

I'm not sure Staples is an approved repair center for any laptops but, if they can help her, it's a good thing. She'll just have to pay the price if it's under warranty and they void it. She didn't say how new it was.
