Anyone use MerchantCircle to advertise your business?

I have been on MerchantCircle for some time and have received a few calls from it so I would suggest you set up a free account. It also helps with SEO I would think.

Are there any other sites like this that provide member profiles? I know Yelp has something similar but it doesn't seem as nicely put together as merchantcircle.

So do you guys use these or anything else?

I signed up for a free account last year, but haven't really had the time to do anything with it. My profile is complete, but they are freaking relentless with their email spam about "Check your Status" and "Be sure to complete your profile". 3 or 4 emails per week on average, sometimes more. This alone makes me want to bolt.

I signed up for the free account purely for the SEO juice. Other than that it really seems kind of useless to me.

I have yet to hear anyone not in the industry mention using this site, and the email spam is absolutely horrendous. Next to Yext, MerchantCircle is the worst when it comes to spam.

If you're looking for other sites like this, go to Yext and sign up for a free account. They will list all of the services you can sign up on (and offer to do it for you.... for a fee). Be ready for even more span in your inbox, though.

MerchantCircle is mostly worthless. I am sorry I signed up as they call every few weeks to get me to sign up for some service that I am not interested in. I think it is more trouble than it is worth.

Thanks for the replies. I went through and looked for other businesses in the area and sent a "connect to member" request which I figured would at least notify them that I am in the area, active, and offering a service. If they are on the site, they are most likely in the same position as I am, looking for business. It's free to send connect requests, so why not do it. The only strange thing is that I can only easily search my local zip code and neighboring zip codes only show limited results.
