Is anyone using RMPrepUSB ? I cant believe I've never heard of it because the website they have seems to be a treasure of info on USB bootable devices and prepping them for all sorts of use.

http://www.rmprepusb.com/

I already have several USB prep/booting tools but this one really looks packed with features.

RMPrebUSB is my go-to program whenever I need to do something with a USB drive. Lots of cool features in this program.

Weird. I know
If this guy had stuck around, he'd be able to answer a ton of questions.
I am still around but I am more active on reboot.pro! It is a real pain not being able to post URLs in replies here.#

P.S. If you are looking for a USB MultiBoot solution and have tried YUMI, XBOOT, etc. try my Easy2Boot project (videos available on my rmprepusb website). You can keep all your bootable ISOs, repair programs, memory tests, etc. on one USB drive and change the menu to display your own shops background/logo etc. You can also password protect it and if using a USB Flash drive, hide the partition so it is not accessible in Windows.

Easy2boot is great.

Why hasn't this been added to repair tool of the week?

It would be great for this program to be featured.

Regards,

Looked at the web site and it looks interesting.

I have a Zalman from which you can boot multiple ISOs. For those familiar with both the Zalman and RMPrebUSB, is there an advantage to using RMPrebUSB instead of the Zalman?

In a stroke of seemingly bad luck, I found Easy2Boot a couple months ago, got a drive pretty well set up, and then promptly lost the 32Gb flash drive. I ordered another one, upgrading to usb3 this time, set the drive back up again, and then promptly lost THAT drive within about 48 hours. This is after carrying a flash drive in pocket every day for ~2 years.

Fast forward 2 weeks and I found the first one, housing smashed up, the parking lot of my son's daycare. Internals are still solid...lol. Then last night, we discovered my son's horde---all the things we've lost in the last couple months! Remotes, the second drive, etc. Huzzah!

Anyway, I've had some weird issues with Easy2Boot, but I think a lot of it is that my bench rig hates booting from flash. I swear it reverts to usb 1 speeds, and all my bios and everything else is fine.

However, the tools that I have working are NT Offline Password Editor, parted magic, manjaro, kaspersky rescue disk, BitDefender Rescue Disk, and to some extent Hirens. Neither hirens or falcon4 is fully working, and I can't make Kon-Boot work to save my life, although fwiw this bench rig is one of those sytems that Kon-Boot won't work on even from CD. What's driving me nuts is that I CANNOT get Kaspersky persistence to work. I've followed the tutorial on the site and the onboard .mnu file, and it just wants to write the definitions to my root C drive.

So...if you have Easy2Boot, and you can make Hirens work 100%, or Falcon4 work 100%, Konboot work at all, or get persistence with Kaspersky....please let me know. :)

I haven't tried Manjaro or Kali with persistence...that's on my short list.

Hi
Have you looked in the \_ISO\docs\Sample mnu files folder in the Easy2Boot download?

There is a Falcon4.6 folder - the instructions are in the F4UBCD.mnu file.

The is also a .mnu file called FD0-konboot-v1.1-2in1.mnu - the instructions are inside.

HirensBootCD_Extracted.mnu - again instructions are inside - video may help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT6lcZf6r0o

There is also a Kaspersky_Rescue_10.mnu file - If you look at Tutorial 72a - there is a 'common problems' section. One of the items is:

Kaspersky ISO runs and downloads the updates, but the next time I use it on another system, I have to download the updates all over again - Create an empty folder on the root of the Easy2Boot USB drive called \Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10.0 - before you next boot to KAV-rescue on a system, ensure that the Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10.0 folder on that system's internal hard disk is NOT present (otherwise updates will go onto the internal hard disk).

The secret is to make sure that no \Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10.0 folder exists on ANY drive in the whole system except for the E2B drive.

HTH :)

Thanks for this Steve, I was hoping you'd see my post. I followed those instructions to the letter and it won't work for me---but I'll start over and possibly use another rig to see if that clears it up.

I'm betting that my issue may be the Kaspersky rescue folder existing already on the drive.

With Konboot I actually have 2.1, any reason to suspect that might be the issue?

If you can give me the details of exact versions/filenames I can try to get them working.
P.S. Using VBox+DavidB's VMUB app is a great way to test most things and as it uses its own virtual BIOS, you don't have to worry about your BIOS being incompatible. Also, as it uses Windows to access the USB drive, you get full USB 2 or USB 3 speeds.
You can use the 'Contact Me' page on my site for PM.

I just tested Konboot 2.1 floppy .img file. I modified the mnu file so the filename was the same and it worked fine on both my XP Pro system and my Win7 Ult 64-bit system.

Ok, thanks. Reporting back, I tried using the VM and everything is working a treat. I'll try Konboot again, I actually already tried editing the mnu file before---but I'll give it a shot on another system.

The only really weird issue I'm having is that in BitDefender rescue disk, it won't let me click the "agree" button. Very, very weird. Like I click it and it lights up but the checkmark won't stick. Odd. I'll grab the iso again and retry.

Thanks again.

This is the .mnu contents that I used

Code:
iftitle [if exist %MFOLDER%/MNU/kon-bootFLOPPY.img] KONBOOT 2.1\nPress Enter once Kon-Boot starts to run then allow it to boot your system to Windows
errorcheck off
map --mem %MFOLDER%/MNU/kon-bootFLOPPY.img (fd0)
# If current grub4dos root drive (UDF)(stored at 0x8280 in memory) is 0x80 (=hd0), remap (hd0) to (hd1), else do nothing
checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd0) (hd1)
# If current grub4dos root drive (UDF) (stored at 0x8280 in memory) is 0x80 (=hd0), remap (hd1) (=internal hard drive) to (hd0), else do nothing
checkrange 0x80 read 0x8280 && map (hd1) (hd0)
map --hook
chainloader (fd0)+1
rootnoverify (fd0)
