At the end of last year you may remember the media going nuts over the iPhone X and it's pre-orders, seeing headlines such as:

iPhone X drives Apple's ‘best ever’ year for smartphone sales

Well, looks like it's getting a chance on the chopping block:
Apple Leak Reveals Sudden iPhone X Cancellation
https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordon...s-specs-new-iphone-release-date/#6f7d8cd310cb
In a new report obtained by AppleInsider, acclaimed KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says disappointing sales of the iPhone X will lead to the cancellation of the model “with production ceasing in the summer”. This would be the first time Apple has cancelled an iPhone model after just one generation since the iPhone 5C in 2014.

IS APPLE ABOUT TO CANCEL THE IPHONE X? POOR SALES MEAN DEVICE FACES 'END OF LIFE'
http://www.newsweek.com/apple-about-cancel-iphone-x-poor-sales-mean-device-faces-end-life-786430
Respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo told the publication that the lack of demand will see the “end of life” for the iPhone X, meaning it will not be offered to customers as a lower-cost option when new iPhone models are released later this year.

This would mark the first time that Apple has not retained an iPhone released the previous year, though the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are likely to continue to be sold. Apple has not responded to a request for comment from Newsweek and does not typically answer press queries relating to speculation on products.

Probably the fact that it costs just as much as one of their (expensive) computers. I think people are just sick of buying new phones every year or two, and especially when it costs over a grand to get this one.

Price shouldn’t be a reason. Some people are willing to pay or can afford it and others can’t. I buy a new one every year and sell my old one on eBay. Sold my 7 plus for $550. Bought the 256gb iPhonex. And next year I can sell the x four around 700 and buy a new one. So it ends up costing me about 40 a month to always have the latest phone

Price shouldn't be a reason why sales are low? This is news to share lot of people lol

Of course, Price is the reason. Maybe it is is a good phone but overpriced for the value you get. It's not worth $1000. Competitors offer phones with more features for hundreds less.

I have one and also love it.
Wouldn't want to go back to device with a home button now!

The price is excessive though IMO, and hopefully if this is true Apple will see that and either drop the prices, or include a bigger charger for fast charging, and a wireless charger. Which is what they should have done from the beginning.
The price doesn't worry me so much as I have mine as part of the monthly cell phone bill, and it's interest free over 24 months.
I'll do what I did with the iPhone 7 Plus and sell it after 12 months, for more than what's owing on it, and pay off the remainder, and get the latest model and do it all again. :D

I agree, price is a major consideration. $1000 for 64gb is a bit much. I looked at it when I replaced my personal one. Another consideration is the learning curve. The home button is what people are used to, so old geezers like me don't like learning to walk again. LOL!!!

I don't like memorizing gestures to get what I need done. I don't like having to unlock my phone with my face. I don't always look straight at my phone when I'm turning it on and it's distracting. I don't keep my phone locked at all. Simply double clicking the home button gets me to the home screen. The ONLY reason I upgraded from my 7 plus to the 8 plus is for wireless charging. Well, that and my mother needed a new phone so I gave her mine.

I've never understood the need to lock your phone. If you're so stupid that you're going to lose it, maybe you shouldn't own one.

It is a misleading title. Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple won’t keep selling new (price reduced) iPhone X when it is replaced by its successor in September, since production is scheduled to ramp-down or end a few months before the next product is announced. That is not the same as being “cancelled” as we commonly accept the term.

We have seen this before. Most recently with the Apple Watch Series 3. The Series 2 didn’t stick around at a lower price; they just stopped offering it. It has happened before with iPads and iPods.

Says the man who's never been held up at gun point for his phone....

If they want it that bad, they can have it. If I live in a s*it area and have to worry about people shoving a gun in my face in order to steal my phone, I'm buying the $20 Walmart phone. If you're in a bad area carrying an iPhone out in the open, you deserve what you get.

I guess you never learned Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V either? Probably better to re-type everything.

Why are you turning on your phone if you're not going to look at it? How are you going to use it? I can tell you, I've had an iPhone X since day one. Apart from demonstrating the Face ID to others I now never give it a second thought. Its also super nice for things like LastPass, QuickBooks and bank apps. I just click the icon to launch the app and have to do nothing but look at my phone to log in, and I'm already looking at it because there is information on the screen that I need.

I've never understood the need to wear seatbelts. If you're such a shtty driver that you need to do that you should probably just take the bus.

The difference is, getting in an accident depends on not only you but everyone around you doing things correctly. So taking precautions is absolutely necessary. I've never lost anything in my life. The chances of me losing my phone are about the same as me getting struck by lightning.

Not losing your phone depends on you having a brain. Not getting in an accident depends on you being lucky. I've been in probably about 5 accidents, none of which were my fault. None of which were bad enough to deploy my airbags. I've never dropped or lost my phone and I likely never will. The only reason why I have a case on my phone is so that I don't drop the thing. These new phones are specifically designed to be slippery so you'll drop them and have to buy another one.

Why are you turning on your phone if you're not going to look at it? How are you going to use it?

I am going to use it, but not necessarily that EXACT second that I turn it on. I'm not absolutely CONSUMED with my phone like most nitwits are. I'm in the middle of DOING something that requires my phone. I also have family members that might need to use the phone at any given time. Having a locked phone is a huge pain in the butt and not worth the "benefit" of being locked out to everyone else. I don't use my phone to surf creepy porn sites that I don't want anyone else to look at, nor do I keep embarrassing photos on my phone, or anything that really matters. I don't save my passwords so I don't have to worry about people getting into my bank account if they steal my phone. I just don't understand all the secrecy. Unless you're doing bad sh*t on your phone I don't see why you would want to lock it.

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear? Seems I've heard that somewhere before. (On that subject - what's your real name, and where do you live? Or do you have something to hide after all?)

Give me a break. A phone is a tool. An appliance. Locking your phone is as stupid as locking your microwave. I would feel the same if someone looked at the dried on stains in my microwave, or if they looked through my phone. Other than mild embarrassment from the dried on food stains in my microwave, and the horrendous fingerprint buildup on my smartphone screen, I couldn't care less.

Not losing your phone depends on you having a brain.
I can't help but think your opinion is skewed by your personal life. By your own admission (in some older thread I can't find) you don't really go out much, so its easier for your to not lose it or risk it getting stolen. Its easier for you to not have sensitive pictures or videos on your phone if all you photograph is work related or something (making assumptions here I know). People use their phones for a lot of potentially embarrassing but normal things. Taking photos to show your doctor for example. Having pictures of your girlfriend or wife, even not lewd or anything in the hands of some random dude would make you feel uncomfortable just to know he can copy those pictures and keep them forever. There's plenty of very normal reasons to lock your phone.

And some people, for example, go to the gym and have to change/shower in a publicly accessible place. Or they play sports and have to leave their phone somewhere easy to steal from. Some people have to take cabs/ubers/buses to get places (forgotten phones are common in these). Maybe you think it takes a stupid person to forget a phone in a car, but if so it just shows you either don't have much experience in social situations, or just aren't really thinking about it fully. People get excited, or distraught, or otherwise distracted as part of a social life and it sometimes leads to putting something down and forgetting to pick it up. Thats just normal, average life.

Plus, ever heard of this thing called children? Holy jebus kids cause mayhem. But then I maybe you think anybody who has kids doesn't have a brain either, since it leads to so many problems? Problems that could have easily been avoided by using your brain and not having kids?

I agree with a lot of things you say on this forum, but this is not one :)
