Atera

I used it for about 12 months. They include splashtop for remote access.
Ended up moving to syncromsp recently as they have some nice integration with products I need.

FYI the syncromsp remote is nasty but doesn't matter as I use screenconnect cloud.

I've been searching for what my next MSP product will be and I'm probably going to go with Kaseya with Tech's Together. Flat $2 per node and includes Bitdefender which is always highly rated, Webroot/Kas gets a bad rap. Their backup integration is with Acronis, another market leader.

I used Atera for 2.5 years. During that period, there were ZERO new features or improvements. I contacted them several times, requesting integrations with other packages I use. They did nothing. Moved to Syncro and I'm totally happy. They add new features and integrations almost weekly. But in the last few months, I'm getting constant spam from Atera proclaiming new advances and features. But it's too late. They left that product out there without spending a dime on development. Now that they are hemorrhaging clients, guess what? They are adding stuff. Screw them.

Just had a thought. Syncro offers "Remote Command Prompt and PowerShell". Anyone use this to turn on remote control on the fly? I have self hosted ScreenConnect and have machines with unattended sessions. I'm always worried about the next hack out there with all my clients machines exposed. Seems like it would be almost no slow down when I need to connect remotely to someone. Just issue a command and my ScreenConnect is installed again. All the other times there is no access, so I'm closing some holes.

Why bother uninstalling/reinstalling? Just leave it installed and use the PS/CMD to start/stop the processes for it (or, if it runs as a service, you can ignore the terminal completely and just use the new services tab to turn it on/off). Disable it from starting automatically on boot and you've accomplished your idea.

That said, I'm not sure I'd do that just yet. Syncro's gotten a lot better about reliably connecting to target PCs lately, but I've still had occasions where I've had to go in through TV to do things manually because Syncro won't connect for some reason. You'll want to carefully weigh the pros/cons of potentially locking yourself out of a system with no alternate route.

I agree with Nibblybits, the syncromsp remote service used to be awful but it has improved vastly in the last few months. And it's nice to just take a peek at running services without having to open a whole remote desktop. I can close a misfiring app without even appearing visable to the client, awesome!
