Got a Samsung NP300E5A laptop in for slow running and it was getting hot, so I thought I'd strip it down. The airway was clogged with dust and fluff and the thermal paste has gone dry and crumbly, so I was right to strip it down. However, I got a bit clumsy and I've pulled all three wires out of the CPU fan connector

Anyone know the correct orientation or sequence for reconnecting them? The fan label says that it's a DC Brushless Model KSB0705HA, BA31-00107A. All three wires are out of the plug and there are four pins so one of them obviously isn't used.

What a numpty I am!

This is why when I recycle old laptops, I will strip certain parts for later use... like the cpu fan.
Never hurts to have a few handy for cases like this. And I have had those wires pop on me too.... but I just grab another and swap it. :)

Try bend the little tab thing on the terminal connector - so it sticks up a bit. Should just lock back in place.Or is that just being cheapo

Nope. That's being resourceful. :)

And keep a few of the plastic plug shells from failed fans, so when you break the plug on an otherwise serviceable fan, you can get it usable in a couple of minutes. Those plastic parts become rather fragile after a while and even disconnecting them carefully can have dire effects.
