Business Card Design

My question is simple... I must print another batch of business cards and would like to change the design of the previously free ones I had off VistaPrint.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to plan and design one. Since I'm no designer, it takes me a lot of time to come up with an OK design, although I'm usually happy with the results.

So, what's the best option?

Thanks everyone.

I know I like business cards that are simple, short and sweet but when I make them I often end up with anything but. I think there are 2 different lines of thought on a biz card. One - for existing customers that is what I just described stating trade, specialty, contact, address and maybe hours. Another is a biz card/advertisement. Maybe the same info on the front but list services on the back but make it readable, simple & to the point.

Some people have multiple biz cards, one for residential, business and advertisement.

I personally don't like the super glossy crammed with tons of info and graphics but that would be an advertising card. I think a 4"x6" card would be more appropriate for that.

I'm attaching a quick design for your review. Would appreciate if this is moved to the critique section.

The black border on the front is just an indication of the actual card, anything outside that is just the bleed section. The logo is at the back, as you can see. Tried to keep up with my facebook page design:

I just like simple designs too... not as easy as it seems to be when you're actually designing.

Most of the time my business cards are given to current clients. In fact, I just hand out two cards to the client, informing them that one is for them to keep while the other can be given to anyone else they think would benefit from my services.

It worked multiple times, and this using a business card with a GMail based email address, no website, no logo, and free stuff.

Thanks for you input :)

Thanks for your feedback. Would appreciate some comments on the shown example.

I like the back with your logo. I would add your website, email, or number to that side for bigger impact. Put whatever you want people to contact you by on there, nice and clear.

The front needs some work. Is that box part of the design? I don't like it.

Maybe...make the whole left side coloured with your contact info as well as ditching the interior rectangle.

No that rectangle is not part of the design... it's just there to show the bleed area.

Do you mean having the contact details both at the front and at the back?

Thanks for your reply :)

Another try... the first card and a new one.

An impressive business card is essential to a successful business. Especially in situations as one mentioned earlier, giving several out as referrals.. This is a permanent first impression a potential client is going to see and will effect if he does business with you and if he thinks your business is worth a higher price point due to you being "worth it".

He's an example of mine, I'm going to redesign a little, I think, make the colors a little more lighter so easier to see for elderly people.

Have to take lots of things into consideration!

If you need help with design, let me know, also.

There are people in this world that are good with fonts and positioning. You and I are not one of those people ;)

Me personally I find its much easier to get good font and placement by having the logo take up most of the front of the business card and then have like a margin on the bottom where you have your name, website, email, phone number etc. Those cards split left and right like that seem much more difficult for me to deal with.
