Can anyone identify this UPS rack/system?

I'm considering bidding on this and there is no information or specifics about the equipment. Does anyone recognize this hardware and can share any info?

It looks like the bottom 5 units are purely battery units and there are 2 "converter" units.

Looks like some Rack Mount Smart UPS 3000 models XL series with optional extended run battery packs.

Plus 2 smaller extended battery modules...didn't bother to look them up.

You may be able to swing the price of the unit..but the shipping cost would most likely make you take out a second mortgage. Hopefully it's a local pickup for ya.

They look like APC Smart-UPS. Boy if the UPS's are in the bid the shipping would be a small fortune. I bet each unit would take to guys to place in the rack.

I have moved those with two moving after removing the batteries. If I am not mistaken, the batteries on those slide in and out and if the batteries are old and melted they won't come out.

Also, if the batteries are old, they won't do you any good. You may wind up with a very nice unit that won't power an iPad. Replacement batteries are not cheap either.

Yup...hot swap batteries. And if they overheated...they "bulge" and can be a real pain to pull out.

^ - this. I am right now in the middle of replacing batteries on about 20 1500-2200 watt UPS systems with extended run batteries. Very pricey and we have to do it every 2 years or so.

If that rack has old batteries OR if the electronics are going it will be a waste of money. If you can't test it or put a load and see what it does on several power outtage tests and flickers then don't touch it.

x2 about the battery bulge. They can seriously get stuck in there at that point.

I recently dropped about $100 to replace 2 batteries in an APC1400. These were not APC branded batteries, but are the same brand once you pull off the APC sticker from the old batteries, add at least %50 for APC branded. Batteries are not cheap.

By the looks of that rack, another issue would be power, most of the bigger APC's don't use 110V 20A circuits. You will be looking at 240V with a twistlock plug.

What are you trying to accomplish with these? One thing I've learned is cheap enterprise hardware is NEVER cheap to keep running.

Yes, I have noticed that my APC UPS 1250 is already needing new batteries and it is less than 3 years old. They do not seem to last long considering that they are not used much. Running about 20% load, the runtime has gone from about 40 minutes to 9.
