I am using MacDrive to be able to access a MAC external hard drive on my XP PRO sp3 computer.
The MAC external hard drive was formatted with these instructions:
http://osxdaily.com/2012/01/04/format-an-external-hard-drive-or-usb-flash-drive-for-mac-os-x/
The files were copied from a MAC notebook to the external hard drive.
I am trying to copy it to a NTFS formatted Windows external hard drive.
When I use the Windows CTRL/C to copy the files an error 'unable to read from source file (or similar) occurs.
I can copy portions of the source drive but when I click on some subdirectories, the mouse just jumps up to a higher level subdirectory.
When I use UnStoppable Copier, 336 files are bypassed and the log only shows the files that are 'OK'.
I then used the 'repair' function to 'fix' the MAC drive but still 336 files are bypassed.
I am not very familiar with MAC.
All assistance is appreciated.

unstoppable copier will copy corrupt files, it's in the options tab. And there's checkboxes below the log that show which files are the corrupt ones

Windows is horrible for working with file systems that are not made by M$. I never really trusted those various apps. As mentioned you can boot from a current Linux Live distro. But beyond that here are a few suggestions, if you are not already aware, to remember in the future.

1. OS X has built in filesharing that includes SMB and works very well. So if the machine is bootable just put it on the network to get at files.

2. You can format a external drive in OS X to FAT. Which is readable in both M$ and OS X. However you will have a file size limitation of 4gb.

3. Apple also has something called Target Disk Mode which lets you turn on a Mac so that it behaves as an external drive. This is useful if it's a laptop and the OS is corrupted. I've only used it with another Mac but it might work on a M$ machine that has a firewire port.

2gb is FAT16. 4gb is FAT32 which what the OS X Utility creates to the best of my knowledge. But yes it should not be an issue unless the OP is trying to move a very large mail store which happens much more frequently in the last few years. The last few migrations I have done have all had stores in excess of 2gb

As it turns out, the version of Unstoppable that I was using was 3.x and although I had the right checkboxes enabled - neither the log on the hard disk or the screen itself displayed these.
I upgraded to 5.x of Unstoppable Copier and all of the files copied successfully. :)
