Somehow, 3 out of 5 computers at one of my managed clients "lost" their Task Scheduler entry, ctfmon.exe. Without ctfmon.exe, searching in the explorer bar or typing while the Start Menu is first opened, fails. No keyboard input appears - as if the keyboard is not plugged in. Keyboard input in other apps is fine.

From a working computer I exported the Task, then imported the Task on the affected computers via Task Scheduler. Reboot, and all is well again.

The Task in question can be found and exported from:
Task Scheduler Library->Microsoft->Windows->TextServicesFramework--> "MsCtfMonitor"

The solution is above! Export the task from a working computer and import it on the non working computer...
