Dell XPS 13 won't start

New clients laptop wouldn't charge so Dell told him it would be $150 for the power jack. He decided to order the part for $10 and do it himself. Now it doesn't turn on.

When AC power is applied two white lights light up on the edge below the trackpad then shut off. No sound, screen, fan activity. No light on the power button.

The battery test button lights one light on the side indicator.

I have pulled the battery and pressed and held the power button and tried all the combinations of AC only/battery only with out any change in behavior.
I looked for any loose wires he may have not connected but it looks ok.

Did some research on the power supply after noticing the pin in the center of the power connector. Seems to be a oem identifier. It looks very pushed in but I am not sure if that's what it's supposed to look like that, or if it would cause this type of behavior if not working properly. I don't have a second power supply of that type to swap out.

Any ideas?

You should have at least one 90+ watt universal known good power supply to test with. Dell laptops are very cranky when they don't see their certified "Dell" power supply although others of course will work. Does it boot with no battery?

No, doesn't do anything with just the battery.

If he did the jack he likely killed something. I would try a few more things and then give it back to him. Even if you fix one thing there might be more damage you will find later on.

Think I'd be like sorry, can't be responsible and walk on this. If your client messed anything up, and there are any other issues later, guess who he's going to call or blame?

You want to mess with that? Those XPS 13's have those small m sata drives I think. I replaced one for a guy in the building. Let's say I hope I never have to get the drive out. The screws were so small and were rounding out with my screwdrivers. Been a while back.
