Came across this while searching for a handy load of drivers. It's open source and I wondered if anyone had come across it or had any thoughts on it.
I downloaded the full one and have had a tinker and it seems ok, I don't have any jobs on at present where I could test it though. Someone else might though eh

I tried it two times a version or two apart and both times it sent my Antivirus Alerts going crazy. The second time I thought Vipre had cleaned the infection so I tried it on a refurbish machine I was working on an it set off that Antivius as well. At that point I did not consider it worth the risk.

I have used it lots of times and Kaspersky IS 2012 has not found anything. I think that with the large amount of drivers, one of them is somehow bound to be flagged, but I have not had that experience. I use it often when doing a fresh system install and have not had any issues or virus's that customers have complained to me about.

I use this all the time. I click on the 'Expert' mode, and make sure you select drivers only, if you do not, it will set your home page to a Russian search engine and install other software like utorrent and Russian email etc.

:cool::cool:Driver Pack Solution 12 :cool::cool:
:)
Have used this on numorous occasions never had a problem with it.
it is mainly for new windows installs , DONT KNOW ABOUT MACS.
Never used a mac pc so know nothing about them.
it will install any drivers missed and update any drivers that need it.
it will also do a ram memory check for you.
it does the ram memory check on a restart.
Check as previous post says 'expert' mode.

RUN software let it open fully, colours will settle on operations, you will know what i mean if you wait.
It will start in expert mode by default so no need to change any settings.
Do not do any 'Bios' update as it only goes around the block,
easier to find bios yourself, it safer also.,
It will ask you to install any drivers not done in win install, will also do any updates required. It also sets a system restore point for you, so if you think things have gone wrong this is available to you. I think i have covered everything any probs just ask.:):);):D:cool::eek:

I use this as part of the New Setup/Annual Maintenance works - and I recommend it, with Provisos (!)

1. Once the pack is download, open the "Programs" folder and remove the entire contents, no more Russian Firefox, toolbars etc..

2. Always select Expert Mode on the Left Hand side and UNSELECT the two base checkboxes, one adds OEM.bmp info to the Computer Properties page and the other installs a continually running driver update program (removable also via appwiz.cpl), the program will throw back a "program install failure" error. That's actually exactly what we want :P

Apart from the caveats above it's fantastic, especially as it is an OFFLINE facility.

I've also used this since version 11 when obscure drivers are needed and the usual driver pack doesn't work. However on occasion it will install the wrong driver for audio or network and cause blue screening until you boot into safe mode and remove the bad driver.

I use it only when I have given it the 10 min try and I don't feel like hunting around for 40 min to find a driver. I NEVER run it in front of a customer as it has Russian lettering on the top and many malware infections come from that part of the world.

Its a great tool, but I feel you should not depend on it too heavily. I only use it every 4-6 months or so.

I started with version 11 and still use that one. Downloaded the Version 12 but didn't like something about that version... I think it may have been that V.11 makes it easier to 'not install' any 'programs'.

I have had good success with it and have noticed that it does install an occasional incorrect driver, as previously mentioned.

Another nice thing about the program, it will often provide you with the information on a missing driver so that you can search the internet for it.

I absolutely love this program. There are a few "tricks" to be aware of though.

1) As was mentioned before, always make sure "expert mode" is checked. That way you can opt out of installing all of the added programs (7zip, foxit reader, etc.)

2) I've noticed that in version 12 you're going to need to make sure you uncheck the options to brand the OS and run the DPS updater at startup. Neither is detrimental to the overall operation of the machine, just kind of silly.

3) I never let it "index driverpacks"... It just saves time really...

4) On older machines (XP era) be careful regarding the audio drivers. I've noticed that from time to time DPS will install the Realtec '97 sound driver on boards that don't have a realtec chip... Not something that happens a lot, but I've seen it a few times, and the sound won't work. When that happens just uninstall the driver via the driver manager and locate and install the proper driver.

Once you learn all of the quirks of Driver Pack Solution, I think you'll find that it's a nifty little addition to the ol' toolbelt. ;)

Yes it is...I was working on an older gateway, downloaded what was listed as the proper drivers and still had device not recognized issues, removed those and used driverpack solutions 12 and poof, no problems, no un-recognized devices and everything worked fine. I love that thing :P
