I've seen this on a few occasions recently. I sit down at a customer's computer, switch it on, the desktop comes up and Windows pops up this frightening message:
The customer immediately goes into meltdown that my fabulous new recommended anti virus program is broken!! I know what's going on: Emsisoft is doing it's regular updates, it shuts itself down and loads up the newest version. It's off for a few seconds at most, but that's enough to trigger the Windows alert and send the customer into paroxysms of terror. Now I have to explain what's going on, bring up Emsisoft and show that it's merely doing it's regular updates and there's nothing to panic about.
I don't really want to switch off the alerts because one day it may be genuine but I do want to avoid these false alarms. Telling the customer to ignore these alerts is just teaching bad habits.
What to do???
