e-Machines t6528: powers on but no video or POST beeps (onboard video)

-added video card and tested: FAIL
-tested with known working PSU: FAIL
-unplugged all peripherals, removed mobo from case and tested: FAIL
-tested with known working RAM in different slots: FAIL
-removed RAM and tested: still no POST beeps
-replaced Motherboard and repeated all steps above: FAIL

So am I right in assuming the the processor needs to be replaced? The processor is a ATHLON 64 3500 2.2GHZ if that helps. I can't think of any other answer but I would like some assurance because with problems like this its almost always the motherboard and I can't remember the last time I replaced a processor because it actually needed to be replaced...

Looks like you covered everything but the processor. As long as all the cabling is correct, that's really all that's left.

Many emachines will have a PSU take out the mobo.

Replace only one and you are still chasing your tail.

I read that online somewhere. But unfortunately that was after booting it up with the old PSU (only once however and only for about 20 seconds). All tests after that were done with a known working PSU.

No beeps

Your post is quite interesting to me; if you see my posts about the blown power supply today, that was an amd 64 3000, 2ghz, and I wound up with exactly the situation you describe. The fans come on but nothing else. Assumed it was the motherboard but didn't have another to test it. Let us know how you come out.

new processer = FAIL

I must have gotten a motherboard with the same problem because the same exact thing happened with the new motherboard, new processer, known working psu, known working ram, and known working monitor (ie. no parts at all from her computer). This is very frustrating...

CPU's hardly every fail....motherboards on the other hand I've had to return an Asus board 2 times before they finally sent one that worked.

Mystery

CC, you're making me nervous. Broke down and ordered a motherboard with cpu for my problem machine. Like yours everything in it will be new. If it doesn't work, then don't know what next.

You can't win em all I guess. The customer was very understanding and agreed to purchase a new machine. I agreed to transfer files and setup the new computer for free and I'm only charging her for the cost of the hardware I purchased. I've had the computer for two weeks and she agreed that waiting another two weeks for another motherboard that (hopefully) works is not ideal.

At this point I'm just doing everything I can to keep the client. She understands that its not my fault but I still feel bad for having her computer this long and not fixing anything.
