Failing HD on Dell Inspiron 3650 with failing HD

Hello, I have a customer with a Dell Inspiron 3650 with a TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 917.68 GB, 580.64 GB free, i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz, 8GB memory, I am debating on recommending the customer to replace the drive and I clone the drive with a new drive or upgrading the entire system. The system is about 5 years old and I would charge about 125 for the labor to clone and replace the drive plus replacement HD part cost. I am not sure if it is a good idea to replace the entire system or the drive any recommendations?

Give the customer a price with 1TB 2.5" SSD and your labour, tell them Windows 10 reaches end-of-life in October 2025 and the computer isn't compatible with Windows 11.

Then let the customer decide. I'd suggest it would be worth fixing.
 
I haven't clone a drive in a min I think I have a copy of acronis in my toolkit, is there any other app that would making cloning any easier. Also do I have to clone to another 1TB drive?
 
You could use Macrium Reflect. You CAN clone to a smaller drive but it would be advisable to stay with 1TB based on how much space he’s using now.
 
If you're going to be installing an SSD I've had only a single brand, Mushkin (ack! spit!), not come with its own data porting software or a license to something like Acronis or similar for the purpose.

I always use what the "destination drive" manufacturer supplies for the purpose of getting data off the source drive (even if it's in the process of failure) to the destination. I try to only do a "single hit" against a failing drive for the purpose of getting everything that I can off it, whether that's by imaging it, cloning it, or using a data-porting operation to SSD from HDD.
