I am in a Web Design and Publishing class (basic HTML/CSS) and have a group project (4 members) that we all have to design and code together. It's due around the beginning of December.
I used 000webhosting and FireFTP to host the site at: http://fair.net63.net/index.html

So far, it only has my code. The extra pages will be coded by the other members, but I went ahead and added them for the extra experience with creating a page and linking to it.

At this point, I would like feedback on how I could improve my page that I've been tasked with coding (home/index page). Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong with the code.

The site is in its early stages. We won't be using any advanced coding, scripts, forms etc. It's a super basic website. We decided to create an information site that provides info on our local state fair.

I like the layout and the colors. The #1 thing I want to change right now are the heading/banner images. I made them quickly in Photoshop. I don't have much graphic design experience. It would be super awesome if someone would be willing to make a nice banner for the page and send the PSD file for editing :)

Any feedback is appreciated :)

1, colors are clashing. that pink/blue combo is not a good look

complimentary to the blue CFB7AE
complimentary top the pink C0FFF4

2. no copyright info at footer

3. you are leading with a paragraph of information about the FAIR. 'encyclopaedic' content should be on an About page, not in the first paragraph of the copy.

4. Menu item for 'contact information'

5. please provide more information about your Brief. Is this a sales site, an information site? Whats the purpose of this URL? What are you trying to achieve?

Will pm you links for cheap Banner design.

Will you please show me this by editing the CSS?

What goes in the footer?

I need content on the fair. I'm not sure what to put.

Another group member suggested:
o Map of where the fair is
o Some history
o Message

4. Menu item for 'contact information'

Don't want to be contacted lol

Completely informational. The URL is short and free. We are simply trying to culminate our knowledge gained from the semester into one project. We were given the opportunity to do our site on just about anything and we chose to make a site that showcases some of the attractions at our local fair.

Why would you ask for someone to do your class work? I can't imagine anyone's going to be all that willing to do this...

As far as the site, the code looks ok. The site itself is....basic. Have you considered working with your group on this group project, instead of coding pages individually?

I would:

Change the colour wheel

Add rollover's on the links on the right. (If you need help, just ask)CSS

How about this look? Too much pink I think.

Regards,

By rollover, do you mean include a hover affect on the anchor element?
The book we use shows how to use rollovers, but not rollovers for images.

You removed the blue background? I am going for a cotton candy theme :)

Should I not have the links in a box?

THANK YOU SO MUCH :)

I would surely fix the colors probably something more simple. And on every page i would keep the "Upper Peninsula State Fair" instead of clicking on every separate tab it comes up on top. You should consider putting the name of each tab name where it says "Content". Other than that its pretty good.

If you would like a nice color tool check this one out: ColorPic I have used it for years, it has a lot of features.

For coding I recommend you have a look at this site: w3schools it has lots and lots of website coding information, it also has a Color Picker page.

I also recommend you use a validation service like: validator.w3.org

+1 for these sites, when I dove in and created my first website these sites were very helpful.
