Ok, I have about a years+ experience with repairing the products in the title. I was a third party contractor and worked on a per incident basis. I would be send out on site and have to diagnose the problem. What I would do is observe the problem which would give an idea of where the problem was within the hardware. I would then have to disassemble the product and find out what part number was needed to fix the problem. I would then have to put the unit back together and wait for the part to come in 2-20 days. Then I would pray that this fixed it and I would go back onsite and install the product. hopefully this would fix the issue.

Now when I did a service call I would have access to the tech support of the company who contracted my services. These guys usually could diagnose the problem from the description I gave and they would then direct me to the proper board.

Now I want to know how to learn to do this without having to call tech support. IDK where to begin here so i thought I would ask here. It seems like this will be a good service to offer because anyone who doesn't get a warranty will need to bring the product into the shop.

My best suggestion is to hire someone to do this for you and have them teach you.

Easiest way is to use Google before you go onsite after listening to the clients description of the problem. That way you can have an idea as to what the problem may be when you get there. Then check the problems and do another Google search if needed.

Your description does not match your title

But you need a DMM and a service manual helps

You need to know about caps and resistors as those are the main problems in TVs
