G.Skill same model completely different ram?

I do a lot of online repair and hardly any in person repair but is this common practice now?

They are the same model ram as the ram I tested in the motherboard so I know it will be compatible right? wrong didn't work completely different sticks of ram, not even the same chip density...one of them is single sided the other is double.

Nevermind appears to be normal....seems rather silly to keep same model number with changes that big

Single-sided vs. Double-sided - I wouldn't mix them together. I always try to use the same density ram together. It's just like asking for trouble down the road. Just had that happen recently in a laptop, too!

Plus there are no indications on the stickers as to whether they are 1Rx8 or 2Rx8.
