Hi,Does anyone out there use or has had experience with
"USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dual Hard Drive Docking Station – with One Touch Cloning" type devices as a quick way to grab a clients data before a re-install or a clone before a HDD replacement. (sorry too new to post URL but I'm sure you know the devices I mean)
I currently slave a clients HDD into bench machine/server or clone/backup over gigabit network but sometimes it is slightly inconvenient to shutdown/bootup server when needed.
My idea is to get a triple port version USB 3.0 (with 1x IDE,yes I still get these in at times and I'm a bit unsure wether they support 3.5 and 2.5" IDE and 2 x SATA) then add a 2TB SATA drive as a storage drive for clients data backup.
Thinking I could rebuild OS/replace clients drive then re-insert it nto station and dump client data back on or USB 3.0 it back onto clients rebuilt PC that supports 3.0.
Not sure if it could image serve cloned images or not via software (unlikely) but I already have server mentioned earlier running WDS/Syslinux thanks to FoolishIT post
Just thought it my be a quick easy alternative option
If not , any ideas?
Thanks in advance
