I would start with a new video card and or ram. If that didn't work then try a new power supply.

Yea I bought new RAM and installed today but it was running fine last 12-16 hours then randomly started restarting. I hope it's not the graphics card, im running a gtx 570 and they're not cheap :( and my psu is 1050w so that wouldn't be cheap to replace either. Any other advice? I tried updating my graphics card, didn't do me any good.

Ok thanks I will. I just removed the new RAM i installed earlier and now my computer starts and runs for 10 seconds without signal to my monitor then shuts off. Seems to be getting worse, I guess I'll just have to buy a new psu to rule that out first.

Thanks for the tip. But what do you mean by "tools"? I have my own bootable flashdrive tool kit but I can't even get the computer to load up anymore to find out any further issues or gather a more elaborate report. Not to mention this is my first "blue screen" so im taking it as a learning experience. Thanks for the help by the way :)

I mean tools for fault finding whether it be software, hardware etc. fault finding sometimes is a process of elimination. I spent £000s getting to where I am now. I don't want to side track your problem but some problems will take time. I just saw its a blue screen, have you check the error, boot into safe mode, live cd? Lots of ways of narrowing it down.

Yea the last time I got the computer to show anything on the monitor was when I posted originally on the forum. im on my laptop now. also, my usb ports are no longer working properly causing my mouse/laptop to stop working. For some reason it keeps getting worse.

I'm getting confused now  is the problem on your laptop or desktop?

Sorry let me clear this up, my desktop is the issue but I'm using my laptop to continue communicating with you. As of now, my computer turns and stays on but no image is displayed on my monitor and my back usb ports are no longer active. Since I have an Asus P8Z68 motherboard, there is a feature on it that I just discovered 2 minutes ago that shows a red led light next to the words DRAM_LED that apppearantly (according to the motherboard manual) suggest there is a specific issue with that part of the POST process. Don't know much else but others online say you are supposed to hold the MemOK button so I did but it restarted my computer and nothing changed. Sorry again for the confusion you're being very helpful

*Typo also, sorry probably came off as very confusing haha. I mean to say mouse/keyboard not "mouse/laptop"

Throw a cheap video card in to see if it works.

I bet it is the video card.

My best wildass guess would be possibly bad ram seating. Some don't realize it takes a great amount of force to properly seat ram. If you have to manually lock those tabs in it definitely isn't seated properly. With enough force those lock tabs should lock in on their own.

Sorry to be a curmudgeon but how exactly is the OP not considered an end user? This is his first blue screen? Genius indeed.

To add a bit of constructive criticism - there are numerous resources available with a bit of searching for resolving blue screens. If you can't fix your own stuff without (really basic troubleshooting 101) assistance you are not ready to be fixing other peoples' gear for pay.

Gotta agree. If you sign up with a repair professionals forum and your first thread is about fixing a BSOD on your own system? Shenanigans.

Well troubleshooting 101 would be testing the hardware and probably trying from a Linux live cd to see if the problem is in Linux as well. Seems you should be able to narrow this down pretty quickly.

If It's ONLY when your running a game that may be the GPU or the drivers associated with it. How long after you start a game does it blue screen? 2 minutes? 5 minutes? an hour? All those factors are relevant. If its instant (the second you launch the program), that'd most likely be software and if it happens at random you can assume that it's a hardware based issue. Just a few basic troubleshooting tips and then from there you can determine what you need to test first.

Edit: Or It can be the PSU not feeding the GPU enough power. Also this would be dependent on when it happens. I need more information.

Basic BSOD Rule - Applies MOST of the time: Same time = software. Random = hardware.
