Anyone know of a program that will destroy data on a drive if a wrong password for example is entered.

LOST my usb stick last week, it had personal clients data on it.
I got it back today thanks to the "Tool of the Week"

But since the client who returned it is in direct compitition to the companies whos data was on the USB stick, I think I should take a few precausions.

Luckely enough they as honest and returned it after seeing the message and did not access any of the files, but it could have been very embarassing....

Any help will be appreciated...

Nathan

You could encrypt the entire USB stick using true crypt. There's an option on there to setup a Traveler Disk which autoruns Truecrypt upon plugging in the USB stick and asks you for the password.

Pretty lucky that you got it back :) I've lost about 5 sticks so far including a really nice Corsair 4gig stick :(

TrueCrypt one of the best free open source encryption.

You can create hidden volumes that you can hide your stuff in there!

Encrypt!!!

Encrypt all of your customer data! I carry a lot of that around and some of my clients are also competitors.

I can't have that data falling into the wrong hands. If it does, they would have Domain Names, IP Addresses, Admin Passwords... Someone could easily change the admin password on servers and I would be out of business.

Client data is not something to mess around with.

If you want to be even more secure, buy a 2GB and 4GB flash drive of the same brand. Then switch the casings, and on the 4GB one with 2Gb casing, make a hidden 2GB volume, and put boring stuff and LostDrive on the remaining 2GB.
