Hi All,

I'm working on a Acer AM1640-E1510b tower. I just need to remove the hard drive -- so simple right! Well apparently not! I removed the side black/green bracket as usual, however this thing is just STUCK in there. It looks like there's another lock on the other side, but I see no way to unlock it, even with the other side panel off.

I have tried pulling with all my might:
Here's the drive:

And here's the side with the locking mechanism:

Any ideas?

Okay well after completely breaking the locking mechanism (oops) and trying to remove the drive with all my might (and scratching up my hand nicely) I give up on this POS!

I'm just going to use long SATA cables to clone and installing the new drive on top of the old one. Not a full solution, but the only way I'm going to make this work without throwing it out the window.

Unlock the Lock mechanism an you probably notice the Hard drive wont release correct? I have dealt with many of these. For this acer either push from the front side of the case OR take off the front panel and push. you have to wiggle and push at the same time its a tight and weird fit. But it will come out. I remember the first time i saw one of these I was scared thinking i would damage the Drive. Just put some weight into it when you push and wiggle and it will slide out.

This case is so poorly designed that there is no access from the front or opposite side! Everything worked out with the long cables and securing the new drive in with the old.

Thanks for everyone's help, sorry I don't have a solution!

I did one the same a few months ago I released and removed all the locks above then it came out, the worse one I have come across, had me stumped
and it was on site
