How to import old calendar in Outlook into New Outlook

This is going to be a request techs will get often. It will be included in my tech learning series about New Outlook. I'm guessing some of you might be getting this question now as Microsoft is forcing New Outlook on folks. Below is a simple explanation so you at least know and can tell your clients until they make the decision to move to a synching program (only choice if they want a synched calendar).

A full tutorial video will be included in this post when I have it completed. It will also be part of my eBook in time I will sell, not soon but later on.

If you just changed from classic Outlook to New Outlook, you might find your calendar is gone. This can happen for a few reasons. First, you most likely have IMAP setup for your email and in Outlook Classic, it came with a (This Computer Only) calendar. That is a local to the computer only calendar, it is not in the cloud and doesn’t sync with the cloud. This data will all need to be migrated to a synching system such as Exchange mailbox, Outlook.com/Gmail or Google Workspace.

Or

Your calendar was was in a PST file and that will not open in New Outlook at all. That data needs to be migrated as well.

It's time to have a talk with your clients about moving their email to an Exchange mailbox, Outlook.com/Gmail or Google Workspace.

Or just not use a calendar to sync with New Outlook. There are no IMAP email accounts that offer calendar (Outside of Gmail) that I know of. This also goes for contacts.

More to come, I'm starting out with simple stuff so you know what will be coming.
