Trying to get icloud to work in outlook 2007 Windows 10 it was not working icloud contact folder would not open
I signed out of icloud and it removed the icloud account from outlook did not expect that.
uninstalled icloud and installed it again could not get account to work kept asking for password when I knew it was correct, did not want to create new profile in outlook.

Could I setup icloud on another computer then copy the icloud contacts folder to outlook address book then export to pst
she's not bothered about syncing just wants extensive address book in outlook

That is how I would do it. Sync with a good version of Outlook (not 2007), export, then import into her 2007.

Tell her if she really wants a proper setup with contacts and calendar everywhere, to switch to O365 and do it right.

We stopped adding iCloud to Outlook (any flavor) about 2 years ago. It is too broken and buggy to work reliably with Outlook (not saying it is 100% Apple's fault, it could be that MS's add-on functionality is to blame, but I got tired of fixing people's crappy iCloud sync in Outlook).

I can usually get it to work but was completely stumped this time after 2.5 hours on a lovely sunny day when I should be out on my bike. if I had known what it entailed I would not have done this job.
To make matters worse of course she did not have a clue what her passwords were, then had to contend with her iPhone and Ipad.
I guess Apple ID, icloud, and Itunes all use the same passwords, if you change one it changes them all to same.
It seems last time I tried this it would only let me move contacts not copy to outlook contacts
I can foresee a scenario of a move then all her devices lose address book.

Log into the iCloud website and get a backup of the contacts before you do anything. The backup is in vCard format, but it's multiple vCard, not anything that Outlook will work with, but if the contact info is lost from iCloud (which is easier than you think), then you can import it back into iCloud from your backup.

Your idea of putting iCloud on a pc with a newer version of Outlook may work, trying to export contacts from a Mac to Windows otherwise can be a real treat, as you'll end up with huge mess due to the formatting that Apple allows in contacts (rich text, etc). Try to import that into Windows and it will create a new contact every time it hits certain rich text symbols.

Thanks, good idea about icloud backup from website I have tried before to do things from website and it's very limited what you can do

The real problem is that M$ has their own proprietary specs and the rest of the world uses other specs which are basically open standards. M$ does not want to make it easy to bring stuff or or out, common monopolistic behavior. The link below goes to a vcard converter, which I have not used, as CSV's are more reliable for importing into Outlook.

Thanks, Mark will give it a try I just exported my vcard contacts from icloud web to test on.
I could easily import into a Mac also and possible export in CSV's or Mac outlook as a pst.
This is the route to follow then I don't have to mess with icloud in outlook on her computer
And I dont have to go goose chasing her for iphone for double login.

you can import them into windows contacts but only one at a time I have 600

Converter made Excel file OK will have to tweak it to import into Outlook

That's cool. I just tested it with a multi-card vCard file and it converted it to CSV just fine. Seems I've hit that roadblock (mutli-card vCard) many times before. I'll have to remember that next time this comes up.

Of course, I wouldn't run their hosted version. They let you download and run the script on your own.

Thanks for letting us know. I found it too late a while ago. Was dealing with a customer who kept on having dupe entries in his address book and clearing out a CSV would have been much easier than the vcards.

I got it into Mac contacts Mac outlook won't let me import Vcard is there another way on Mac
I tried converter but does not import into windows outlook.
I will have to tweak excel file I think it's locked

Select all the records in the Mac Contacts app, then export to vCard format. Then use the link @Markverhyden posted above to convert them to CSV.
