Ideas for holiday season specials?

Besides the obvious discount on custom PC builds (make a lower margin on parts/labour)

What specials can we offer people for the holiday season if for instance they just got a new computer from bestbuy?

With people spending money on gifts they may be reluctant to pay for services. But if we offer holiday discounted specials they might be more inclined?

New PC Streamline and Security Package?
-Remove bloatware
-Initial Optimisation
-License for malwarebytes pro

Data Transition?
-Data Transfer (only from living disks?)
-Setting up their itunes library on the new PC

Anyone got some better ideas?

I feel a bit sick now  I always plug in a USB mouse to laptops anyway but perhaps I should be plugged in my own keyboards too!.

Pretty dead atm after a mad busy few weeks. Just sat here bored thinking of new ways to drum up business for the weeks ahead.

I mostly work remote now, don't miss working on laptops in the shop one bit. Seen too many come in with pube-looking hairs stuck in between the keyboard keys.

I almost forgot to actually post my 2c. Not sure how feasible this is today, but a few years back before ISPs (especially DSL providers) started distributing modem/wireless router combos - a good money maker was to run a special deal on a wireless router and in-home setup with security & configuration of your new laptop.

Ive always wanted to say this to a customer but was never able to

"Merry Chistmas...you got a virus...from porn"

Yes I agree with what you suggested. The store I used to work at made a killing doing a "PC setup", which was remove bloatware, optimization, updates, and AV install. Also the data transfer is a great idea. Alot of people have no idea how to transfer there stuff from one computer to another. I dont know abouyt where you live but in florida the seniors eat up gift cards for 1 hour training sessions for their new computers, even more now that windows 8 is out.

Do yourself a huge favor and skip holiday specials. I have had years of doing them, with no results.

Next week is "end of year" business deals. I'm doing a super insane interview process with each call in to do a short interview to find out their business needs, see if I can offer them new upsells and new software finds I have.

I have a list that's incredible and I'm the lead sales lady.

This year is TIME not SPECIALS.

I'm giving each person 15 minutes. I bet my sales go off the charts by doing a better interview process.

Give to yourself.

I would also like to put together a package deal for my clients as well. I really liked TechFoolish's idea of combining a wireless router with installation.

When do you typically start your promotion? Before or right after Christmas?

I haven't advertised any holiday specials this year and don't intend to. December sales always seem to fall off as people are spending their money on gift shopping. After Christmas I get a lot of calls for data transfer. So I think I'm going to do a 20% off data transfer special AFTER Christmas.

So many people get new computers for the holidays from Black Friday sales and I can't see trying to compete with that. I use FABS so the data transfer only takes a few minutes of actual time (click, click, done...wait...click, click, done). Plus it is a good time to up sell things like antivirus, backup solutions, and MS Office.
