Sorry I haven't been online much for a few days. We had a real bad wind storm Friday, and, for whatever reason, the national news has ignored it altogether. We suffered severe damage at our office and my folks house. 2 entire counties are still mostly without power. To give you all an idea of what happened: Imagine a hurricane without the water striking a 3 county area. We suffered 100+ mph winds non-stop for almost an hour on friday. The electric company and state emergency management has set up what amounts to an army base at the sam's club wal-mart.

I grew up in Springfield, MO with tornadoes my whole life, but I was never scared. This event scared me to death. I was in my car for part of it. It was picking the left side of my Explorer completely off the ground and slamming it back to the pavement while I was driving along. I honestly thought my number was up.

I will post some pics later this week when I get a chance. I, and the rest of the area, could really use your prayers. If you guys want, you can click here and get an idea of what happened.

Talk to you all later.

Crikey!

I'm glad we don't have anythin' like that where I live.
Glad to hear that only property was harmed, and not your friends & family.
Thank f**k for insurance.

On the brighter side of life..

@ least the internet is still working :D

All the best mate

Not to minimize your adventure, but check out this photo after hurricane Ike. About 90% of the structures on Bolivar peninsula (Texas) were not only destroyed, but wiped away as well. Many of the victims that didn't leave the area are still missing. I'm lucky I got minimal damage, I'm about 60 miles (97 km) inland.

Thanks everyone. Yes, the Explorer survived. I am never getting rid of that truck. This is not the first time she's kept me alive. They'll have to bury me in the thing.:D
