We have a client who tried to do a new custom build using an MSI MPG b550. Issue is when the windows finishes installing and after the first reboot the spinning wheel just freezes. We have tried different ddr4 ram, one stick at a time, different video card, updated the bios, different ssd. We are leaning towards bad mobo or maybe ram incompatibility. Also when running memtest it does pass.

Any thoughts?

I think depending on the memory controller different ram may be needed. My understanding is the memory controller is part of the CPU. How can you tell what memory contoller the CPU uses? RX-3x00 and RX-4x00g/ge are the two main memory controllers used with the boards cpus

after a day of f-en around we got it sorted out. We were able to get it to boot with one of our single sticks, then we completed an install of windows. Then after that it booted with his original sticks. I am not sure if this was coincidence or finishing the install made a difference.
