Internet Speed Tests - Results, comparisons, graphs, etc

I'd be curious to know what the UK responders on this thread are paying? Just to compare to US rates. I've heard from a friend who is moving to Germany for a couple years that internet service (among other things they label "necessities") are pretty cheap compared to US.

It's difficult to separate mine as it is tied in with two phone lines and some chargeable phone options. Mine is around £60 per month but I suspect I'm paying over the odds here.

Thanks for that :)

Here's a hardwired workstation at my local community college, Goshen, IN

And then here's my laptop at the same location, but connected by WIFI. Clearly there is some bandwidth restriction going on here

Dang...you're barely above B speeds there...(I think they were about 3-5 megs). G should get you around 18-20.

Considering the bandwidth they have available, I'm sure it's the IT dept throttling wifi connections. They seem to give you enough speed to do what you need, but not so much that you'll want to abuse the network and start downloading a bunch of torrents or something.

Wireless router here at home finally bit the dust today... spent the entire evening hooking up a new one and re-cabling the whole network.

Here's my previous speedtest results...
At home (Elkhart, IN) on my netbook... connected via WIFI through a WIFI repeater

And here's the result today from the same netbook... only this time with a new WIFI router and no repeater (no need with the signal increase):

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the speed increase in WIFI! I'm actually maxing out my bandwidth... now to upgrade the modem to a DOCSIS 3.0 so I can enjoy Comcast's upgraded speeds. ;)

Here's the router I picked up: http://pcdirect.com/tpwi8030rowi.html

I wanted to go with a business-grade router, but those are pretty hard to find locally on such short notice. If my network wasn't down (and my phone system with it) I would have waited for shipping, but unfortunately I didn't have that luxury. So does anyone have any experience with these routers? It seems pretty decent... the GUI has a lot of options that my previous router didn't, so I'm happy with that. Network storage via the USB port was pretty straight forward as well... the GUI says it supports up to 8 volumes, and I didn't have any problems plugging in multiple flash drives via a USB hub... haven't tried multiple ext. HDD's yet as I assume I'll need to use a powered hub. Haven't been successful setting up the print sharing though... the router recognizes the printer, but the setup is asking me to link it to a local printer which is a little confusing to me. No help in the setup or documentation. If anyone has any insight on that I'd be grateful!

**EDIT**
Well apparently for the print server to work, each computer that you intend to print from has to first install the printer locally before connecting to it through the router. Seems like an incredible PITA, especially for setups where the printer is not located near the desktop(s) that want to print... laptops wouldn't be such a hassle though.

Is this common for print server-enabled routers?

Here is from my 12/2 cable company testing OUTSIDE network by 2,200 miles:

12/2 Windstream DSL testing same server location

I just can't get over the ratings of a C+ (for cable) vs C- for DSL when there is a 310% increase of speed over the DSL line, and both are supposed to be equal!
