I have an attorney client who has switched from a Macbook Air to a PC laptop. He loves the PC, but one functionality he misses is being able to text/SMS from his Air. He will absolutely not swap his iPhone for an Android. I have not been successful in finding a solution for him. Has anybody come across this situation and found a solution? I would love to hear any suggestions. Before anyone asks, he made a large investment to switch over to a Win Laptop, so switching back to a Mac is a non-starter.

I would say try Pushbullet, but Android only....

There is also:

Although I'm not sure about that one, looks sketchy.

Windows 10 supposedly has this ability, haven't really looked into it since I have no need for it.

I've tried integrated text in Win10 unsuccessfully before, but may be time to try again with the latest updates.
Thank you Michael, I really appreciate you putting in the effort to help.

Given the constraints you've listed I'd say he's SOL. About the only way I can think of would be to run macOS in a VM or have a real Mac on 24/7 somewhere and remote in to it.

I use a Mac laptop and iPhone. I love that feature and when I've considered going back to Windows that's the one thing that stops that thought process.

There's an app in Apple's AppStore named iWeb SMS. It promises to make you able to write SMS from your computer by using the web browser of your choice.
Could not test it by myself because my iPhone has retired and had been exchanged by an android device.

As I understand it, the iPhone has to have the Cortana assistant app installed for it to work. Perhaps it never got fully integrated in the update, or that functionality was pushed back. I just remember reading about the phone integration from last years Fall update.

Article about it from back then.

I tried it, not a useful app at all. It allows you to type the message on the PC, but you need to send from phone. It also tags each text with a link to the app. Finally, you constantly need to reconnect.
Thank you for the suggestion though.

Google Voice. Port your real number over to Google Voice and then just do all calls/text through the Google Voice app. Then you can call/text through the website on a computer (or via a Chrome app).

Perhaps it depends on what technology he uses for his office lines?
I use RingCentral and can send text from my RingCentral smartphone app or the app on my PC and all display as my office phone # on the receiver end.
That display # can be configured.

I believe his # is from his cell provider ... but i''ll check into it. Thanks for the advice.

A solution I did think of and am testing out is to use a google voice #. They can be linked to your phone, works on both iPhone, Android & PC. The only thing I can't figure out is how to send SMS from google voice as his current cell provided #, by default only sends out showing from his google line # ... I wish this was all billable.
Thank you all for your input.
