I saw the Kingston A400 SSD on Amazon this morning and couldn't believe the pricing. I found a second one with comparable pricing but on a brand unknown to me. Thinking of the old adage if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, I wondered if anyone had any feedback on these models.

Kingston prices (500 Mb per sec Data Transfer Rate)

120GB $19.99
240GB $29.99
480GB $59.99
960GB 112.99

Inland prices (6 GB per sec Data Transfer Rate):
120 $19.99
240 $29.99
480 $49.99
1TB $109.99

I use the Kingston A400 and not had a problem. I pay around £43 +VAT for the 480GB one. I like the Kingston brand, never had any issues with their flash storage and they are pretty cheap.

Inland is Microcenter's private label. I've been using them for a while with no issues. But like all SSD's backups are critical. Because when they go south they won't be coming back at any expense.

Given the price similarity I'd bet they are using the same chips.

I just did a quick search. They are both using the same controller (Phison S11). I cant find what storage chip either is using but im fairly sure my friend who works for HyperX (division of Kingston) told me they use Toshiba storage chips. Maybe Inland are as well.
They seem to be both cheap because they are DRAM-less.

We have been ordering Hyundai SSD 240GB drives the last 4 months and have very pleased with them. Probably have installed 40-50 of them. What caught our eye was the 5 year warranty. They are currently $28.99 on Amazon.

As mentioned for residential use I'd be fine going cheaper, but urge folks that data recovery is likely not possible or to strongly push backups in other words.

For business, I do not use anything other than Samsung or Crucial drives.
