G'day folks,
Followed an ad that appeared to provide a solution to a recurring question from customers wanting to improve the graphics performance of their laptop.
Anyone has used one of these or similar and could provide an opinion please?

How does that even work? You plug in HDMI out from laptop into this then you install a GPU card in the slot and hook your monitor to that?

I very much doubt that would work in most laptops..... And even if it did, are you supposed to cut a hole in the case to run the cable out, from the motherboard?
No, don't even look at that thing again. It's snake oil.

Look at something like the Razer Core X or the Aorus gaming box. A real working egpu will use USBC or thunderbolt and have a built in power supply

Thanks folks,
Not being a gamer I wasn't aware about the eGPU concept.
Some options to consider if the opportunity comes up again.

I've used that one before. For a hobbyist it's fine if you don't mind jank. I used to use it for GPU mining.

But not every laptop supports using the pcie connectors that way. Some will crash, others will bsod. The only solution is proper eGPU solutions with USB C or TB.
