[SOLVED] Mac osx install issue

Have a clients Mac here - 2008 model. They tried to update to el Capitan, it failed with an error on installing

"no packages were eligible for install"

So stuck in the loop there now.

EDIT : Ended up setting date back to 2017 via terminal & disabled wifi all good.

This issue has been brought up before. Unlike other OS's Apple has OS installer certificates which have a limited life. If the installer is provided by the customer and it doesn't work back dating, as you did, is the first thing to try if you don't have a way to download fresh installers. Of course downloading fresh installers is the best solution.
