Microsoft wants to put ads in Windows email

Its only in Windows Mail, the built in client, something which hardly anyone uses or should use. If you have any Office variant, you'll not be affected. Likewise, you'll not be affected if you use any other mail client such as Thunderbird, etc.

Microsoft wants to put ads in Windows email
Reading the link it looks like they've updated the article to say that MS has stopped:

Update, 11:52 AM PT: Microsoft comms head Frank Shaw tells us the company has decided to turn these ads off. He also says the experiment was never intended to be tested broadly, which doesn’t quite jibe with the existence of a FAQ about a pilot program taking place in several countries around the world, but either way the ads should be gone.

I use the Mail app. I'm sooo glad that I neutered my machine so it won't get an updates. I'm still on 1703 and I plan to stay here until hell freezes over (or Microsoft stops with this insanity...whichever happens first).

Yeah, just when you think Windows is getting solid, reliable, stable, they start doing these 6 month forced upgrades. Breaking everything for us and creating more revenue opportunities. Almost like a consortium of us running Microsoft.

I use the Win10 Mail app on my handheld touchscreen device (Asus TransformerBook 10" with Atom CPU and 2GB RAM). For this kind of device it works well, and it has native support for Outlook.com and Gmail accounts (as well as IMAP).
