Has anyone experience issues with Windows 10 updates lately causing issues with older computers that has had Windows 10 installed for a year?

We are a MS refurbisher and have been for 4 or more years. Sold a lot of Dell Optiplex and HP business class computers with Windows 7 on them. Many of the customers that bought these refurbished computers updated to Windows 10 when it was initially offered. Lately they are getting messages when Windows 10 updates "that there is a problem and Windows 10 cannot upload or install the updates".

One customer brought one of his in. We looked it over and everything was up to date - drivers, drive space, etc. We contacted MS Tech Support and they said effective with the latest updates, they will notify the user if the computer is not capable of running Windows 10 while updating. They said that even thought you run the test to see if the computer is Win 10 compatible, if the manufacturer does not have drivers for Windows 10 it will cause this now. This ain't good!!!! The one he brought in was a Dell Optiplex 3010.

Anyone else run into this yet???

I've been getting customers that have had ( or upgraded to) Windows 10 since it was first offered.
Now , up to 2 years later, they are getting popups about "Unsupported Hardware" and warning that Windows may not be able to install or configure updates correctly.
When they ask "can you fix it?" and I tell the client that they are going to have to upgrade/renew the computer they look at me as if It's a joke and they are waiting for the punchline!

This is either going to make business really good or really bad for us (and by "us" I mean most members of this forum who sell computers). Going forward, if people want to stay up with the latest version of Windows, they're not going to be able to sit on a machine for 10 years meaning the turnover cycle for hardware is going to increase which may mean more business for us.

But... and this is a big hairy stinky but, anyone selling refurbished equipment is going to be completely hosed unless they start a massive migration to something like linux. And while being able to reliably sell new PC hardware every 3 years sounds nice to the guys who sell new, at some point they may reach the same place that smartphones are currently at where people just can't afford to keep up with the constant resell cycle (and in all honesty, they won't really need to anyways).

I'll be interesting times ahead that's for sure.
