Is it possible to move Word from an old computer to a new computer?

Clients MacBook had ram failure, I have the hard drive mounted in an external case, can it be used to "drag and drop" word to the new computer?

Thanks!

You used to be able to transfer the licence by copying certain files, but I'm pretty sure you can't anymore (unless a new method has been found)

Maybe try cloning the drive to an external, then see if you can boot off it with the new mac? Which version of OSX was the old one running and what model is the new Mac?

2008 no problem, just use the migration wizard. As already said this does not work with 2011 or newer. You can't even clone the hard drive to an ssd without having to reactivate with the newer versions using a key or ms account.

Yep. Seem to remember that they implemented some kind of hardware based UUID for anti-piracy. It's re-calculated at each launch and then compared to the stored value. So any hardware change, short of RAM, KB, and mouse, triggers the first run dialogue.

Always more difficult on a Mac than Windows. I've had luck the last few times I've tried using a clean install then restore a Time Machine backup using Migration Assistant during the final stages of the OS install. That luck is probably due to being on the same hardware and just replacing a spinning drive with a SSD.
