So I have a dell laptop that I use for work, that has a dock that has 3 external monitors connected. I also have an HP Tower that I was hoping I could figure a way to use these monitors when not working, without having to disconnect/reconnect. The Dell laptop is a Latitude 5140, that actually has the little box that everything is connected to, that connects to the laptop via USB C. I would just like to be able to use these 3 monitors or at least two of them with my HP Tower. I was thinking a standard KVM would probably not work. Please let me know your suggestions.

Well it is not so much a dock as the laptop doesn't sit on it. It is what I would consider to be a Dell connection box.

You don't get docks which the laptop sits on these days. They are all USB connected. If the "Dell connection box" has monitor connections, USB devices, network cable etc connected then it's a dock. If Dell and using USB-C it's going to be a WD15 or WD19 but there are several models of each.

You can plug that USB-C to your desktop but I'm afraid there is only a slim chance the monitors will work. Not many desktops support DisplayPort over USB-C so unless both the dock and your desktop support Thunderbolt it won't work.

Possible solution is to use a 2-device KVM switch but models that support triple monitor are not cheap.
