To keep my PC free of dust and cat hair, I want to buy a plastic shelf that can keep the computer off the floor. Also, I want to wrap an air filter around the entire shelf so the computer is essentially in a filtered box. Any suggestions on where I'd find an air filter that can work for this? It has to be large and made to cut to size. I imagine an air filter roll that looks like a roll of fence.

Go to Grainger's website and search for "Media Roll".
I use this stuff in all sorts of applications.

I don't have a pic, but we once configured a mechanics shop machine to live in on a shelf where we put in small slots on either side with pieces of wood and then just slid in standard cheap furnace air filters. He just replaces them a couple times a year and all is well.

It would be dramatically easier to just get rid of the cats, though. ;-)

I know this probably won't help your situation, but I once sold and installed a few Windows 2000 Dell machines to a small furniture factory.

They had fully filtered and enclosed industrial CPU boxes. They were made of metal and plexiglass, and had .1 micron dust filters. They had a change schedule of two weeks. They were in an area with sanding and sawing equipment. They used them with a bar code reader to keep track of which stage each piece of furniture was in.

They always had issues with overheating. It would get up to 110+ Fahrenheit in there, and it always had to be between 80 and 90% humidity for the wood products. It was a nightmare.

That's very interesting. Would be nice if you could put a little air conditioner in the cases lol.

I need to figure out how I can cover every air vent in my case with dust filters.
I have the CoolerMaster HAF XB EVO

AC units like these are quite common in many situations.

Industrial networks and workstation are my favorite. Even just going in to get a peek. Before college I worked in a few factory environments. I have to say, seeing some of those networks and the industrial PC cabinets really geared me toward wanting to work them.

Some of the cabinets are ip67 rated. Seen them hit with a pressure washer and NOTHING. I love industrial IT equipment.
