Odd network issue

Hi all.
I have two issues with 2 different clients for which I need your input.
Issue #1: Client has 4 custom built PCs (he built them himself) (ASRock mobo, Crucial SSD, Intel CPU, etc. not sure the other specs, but pretty decent) for his shop and they're working fine until now. These motherboards have Intel NICs. They're all running Windows 7 Pro x64. One of them recently started having issues with disconnecting from the network and Quickbooks crashing on her as a result. The computer seems to think a network cable has been disconnected. She gets the red x on the network icon and when she runs the troubleshooter is says the cable is unplugged. This happens randomly, and no, the computer is not being moved, no cables are being touched, and the wiring closet is locked so nothing going on over there either. Most of the time it reconnects itself after a few seconds, other times it takes longer.
Here's what I've done so far:
Updated Windows
Updated NIC drivers from Intel website
Changed power settings for the NIC to not allow the OS to turn it off to save power, turned off EEE.
Updated all other drivers
Tested wiring and ports with a Fluke LinkRunner AT 2000, everything checks out OK
Tried a different port on the Cisco switch they have
Yesterday I was on site and installed a PCI NIC expansion card in case the built in NIC is going bad. When I rebooted the computer after the initial driver update for the new NIC, the computer did not recognize a cable plugged into either port. I rolled back the driver to the one included on the CD with the NIC and it recognized it. Rebooted and shut down a couple of times and it's working fine.
My question is: is there anything else I forgot that might be the cause of this? It might be the NIC, but then why after the first reboot did the computer not recognize the cable plugged into the new NIC? It doesn't seem to be the wiring, either, or the switch. If anyone has any input on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Issue #2: Client has a Lenovo U530 Touch laptop that is having intermittent wireless issues. I actually have another client with the same laptop that is also having these issues, and I know from researching the issue that this is a common problem. The wifi would disconnect and reconnect randomly, or would not see the preferred access point at times, or some similar problem.
I tried:
Updating NIC drivers from Lenovo site and from Intel site (It has an Intel 7260 card installed)
Updating all other drivers
Updating Windows
They tried different access points, including Ubiquiti Long Range units
Tried adjusting the settings I found on Google: power settings to high power, aggressiveness on lowest, not allowing the computer to shut down the NIC to save power etc.
Whatever fixes I tried worked for some time, then the issue comes back.
I see on Google that this is a common issue with the Intel wifi card. Does anybody have any experience with this issue, and if so, any good solution?
Thanks for reading.

Issue#1: I would leave the initial secondary NIC driver issues alone for now. Let the client use the secondary NIC for a while and see if the problem pops up. That will rule out hardware vs software problem. I would say try it with a boot disc, but it seems like the problem is infrequent enough that it wouldn't be the best route.

Issue#2: Are you using the Windows Wireless config or the Intel driver suite?

Tried the Windows config and the Intel one. No difference.

Hm, seems like maybe something specific to that laptop. I haven't run into it before so can't offer any advice... have you found this post in your google searches yet?

Seems like maybe the latest driver from Intel is resolving the issue for some people:

Yes, I saw that post. I updated the Intel Proset software a while back. Seemed to work for a bit but not for long. I'll try setting it to 20 mhz the next time I'm logged in to her computer to see if that makes a difference.
