Wow further update client went back to the pawn shop expecting they would take care of him and refund all or part of his money because of the sick crap found on his 13 year olds laptop. Well instead the district manager got nasty with him and thought the guy was asking for big money which he wasn't. So the guy calls the district manager's bluff and calls a local news station who ends up CALLING US! So my company was given a shout out for helping a consumer on the 11pm news! ROFLMAO. I can't say enough how true this is. One example is: I have a financial services company that I do regular work for as well as the owner's personal computers at his home. Now this being tax time, this week alone I've gotten 5 calls from their customers. I'm thinking he will be receiving a nice bottle of wine for promoting me.

Personally the pawn shops I've been too, especially around here being rural minnesota with a meth problem, is they all seen a little shady. You KNOW that something you take has got to be stolen, how do you weed that out, who knows. However having gay porn when you explicitly told the client it was wiped and all that, couldn't you get the guy for false advertising. It's sad but sometimes the only thing that speaks is money, and you need to sue. I would think a small claims court would be appropriate, while obviously preserving the laptop for evidence. Not sure if there is a law off the top of my head but perhaps even get the guy for distributing porn to minors or something if the guy said specifically the laptop was for his 13 yo daughter.
