Optane - no bootable device

A client's machine had a dead power supply. Replaced that, so the machine now powers up, but won't boot Windows. I can boot Linux from a USB drive, and see the main 1TB spinner drive and back up the data. The 16GB Optane drive is also detected in Linux. Is there a way to get Windows booting again without reinstalling? I haven't had to deal with much in the way of Optane issues so far, and I need to wrap my head around it.

Motherboard is a Gigabyte B360M DS3H (rev. 1.0)
SATA Mode is set to: Intel RST With Intel Optane System Acceleration

I've taken an image of the spinner with no issues. Just in the process of restoring it to a good drive.

Is it possible to repair the Windows install on the spinner (leaving Optane out of the mix)?

I rather suspect the Optane, it being listed as the boot device. If it was working correctly, it seems we should get further than a no boot device error.

Not a Dell in this case, Gigabyte.

Odd using Optane on a custom build from that era when larger SSDs were affordable.

Maybe the BIOS setting went back to defaults and the SATA mode was AHCI when the OS was last installed. Try changing SATA to AHCI to boot off the HDD normally. If that works, clone the HDD to a new NVMe drive of suitable size. 1TB NVMe are now quite affordable.
 
Yes, it's a build from a local shop.

Interesting update - attached the cloned drive and it shows up as a boot option (which the original spinner did not). With the cloned spinner as the boot device, Windows boots normally. So I'm all clear. I'll get them to upgrade to an SSD and ditch the Optane.

I recently had a HP Pavilion 15-cs0093 with a duff 1TB Toshiba HDD behind a 16GB Optane SSD cache. With a new SSD in place of the HDD and a fresh install, speed was okay but still not up to the fantastic original responsiveness. Clearing the Optane cache after the driver installed itself made it so. It might be worth looking for that Optane control applet to see if it does wonders for you, too.
