I've got someone who's called me saying that their Orbi 6 keeps going into disconnected (magenta color) mode. I've asked them to keep an eye on the modem-router (Motorola MG8702) to see if the "link to the outside world" is going out intermittently, but that does not seem to be the case.

I did not install this system but from what the client told me they've put the modem-router into "pure modem mode" (bridge mode) and it's the Orbi that's handling DHCP.

Just curious as to whether anyone has anything to say about the Orbi 6 mesh system and its possible quirks and/or if there's anything peculiar about how it might interact with the Motorola MG8702?

I have not been on site yet because I have the client information gathering first. He's been good about it so far, as from all appearances it's not the modem dropping connectivity, which was my initial suspicion.

Orbi's were the "best" home mesh systems for a long time...they might still be, especially the "Pro" models because they have a 3rd radio that is dedicated to the backhaul links...versus...sharing the 5 radio with wifi duties which is what a lot of cheaper mesh systems do.

And I say this...not being a fan of Netgears network products. I'm a Ubiquiti guy, but for homes...the Orbi Pro models rock.
