Password Protect Outlook 2016 (Exchange)

Hi,

I've run into a bit of a dilemma. Typically most users/companies have their Outlook mail clients setup to automatically login and deal with e-mails. With the main protection being that they have a password for their system login, and the e-mail account itself when first setup.

I have a company that is using hosted exchange with Outlook and wants to have it prompt for a password prior to giving any access to the e-mails/content. Is this possible?

I know with regular .PST's you can password protect the data files, or do the following,
7-1.jpg

however, that option is greyed out (even after deselecting "use offline caching mode" and restarting).

Thoughts?

Even if it promoted for credentials everything cached would still be accessible in Outlook. You could disable the cache but then they are going to have to download their mailbox every time.

What is their goal? Are there not passwords on the computers?

Microsoft says the password that protects Outlook, is the Windows password to get into the user environment that has Outlook in it... Outlook itself cannot do this.

I thought that might be the case, system pass and bitlocker enabled on the drive. What else would be needed?

I recall locking the data files for .pst and believe the reason I can't check the "always prompt" may be due to the default policy O365/Hosted Exchange has in place.

Are there multiple users sharing the same account or something? Think of it like single sign on.
